02/28/09: Completed a Series of System Upgrades
Completed a series of upgrades (SDE 9.3 Wake & City of Raleigh SDE servers, ArcIMS 9.3 and Oracle 10G) which have resulted in improved performance.

If you have questions or comments please let us know:

8/25/08: Added code to fix redline isue
We've added code to fix an issue that some users were having if the vertical scrollbar crossed the map (users with small monitors, low screen resolution and users who had the browser window sized less than full screen).

5/19/07: Data migrated to new SDE server
We have migrated our GIS data layers to a new SDE server (Oracle RAC/Direct Connect). iMAPS performance has improved as a result of the database move.

8/15/07: 2006 Color Orthophotography - Raleigh Only is Available on iMAPS
To view the new Orthophotography, go to our new consolidated View called Aerial Photography (Views are available below the map). To see the images, please zoom in.

10/31/06: 2005 Countywide Color Orthophotography Available
To view the new Orthophotography, go to our new consolidated View called Aerial Photography (Views are available below the map). To see the images, please zoom in.

10/30/06: New iMAPS Server
We have migrated the iMAPS site to a new server in order to provide enhanced performance.

7/17/06: iMAPS enhancements:

  • We have added a new tool that allows users to zoom to Lat Long Coordinates.
  • We have enhanced the iMAPS Print functionality :
    • Custom Title
    • Choose Landscape or portrait (If you choose Landscape, you will also need to adjust your browser to landscape. In most browsers: File - Page Setup - Orientation)
    • Choose which items to display (Selected property information, Map Legend and/or Scalebar)

  • We have changed the look & feel of iMAPS to match the new wakegov.com site.

10/18/05: New http://www.wakegov.com  site launched.

Wake County webpages have a new look. Some navigational items on the iMAPS pages have changed as well (links no longer open up in a new window with the exception of the BOOKS! application and the Register of Deeds page).

9/10/05: 2004 Color Orthophotography for the City of Raleigh added.

To access the new view click here: Aerial Photography View

8/01/05: New View added to iMAPS: Raleigh Development Plans

Includes data showing preliminary plans submitted to the Raleigh Planning Department. Attributes are the plan name and case number. See http://www.raleighnc.gov/plansinreview for more information on a specific plan.

6/01/05: Server upgrade completed

The server migration as well as an SDE server migration planned for later this summer should increase site performance and site availability.

5/27/05: Updated Cary Zoning on County Zoning View

8/16/04: Moved OPEN PHOTO link to top of frame

We moved the link to the top of the right frame when the parcel information is returned so that you don't have to scroll to the bottom of the frame to see the link.

7/23/04: Updated data from the City of Raleigh

Building Footprints (which cover the City of Raleigh only) now have classifications: RESIDENTIAL, COMMERCIAL, MOBILE HOME, CANOPY, GREENHOUSE, SILO and UNDER CONSTRUCTION. You need to be zoomed in before this data layer will turn on; try searching for a parcel and then turning on this layer. Click on the Legend Tool (left side of screen) to view the color codes.

6/16/04: Updated data from the City of Raleigh

Available here Aerial Photography View. The data extent is City of Raleigh only. On the Environmental View, the Raleigh Topographic data has been updated to the 2002 contours. Raleigh planimetric data has also been updated (on the Raleigh Planimetric View as well as data located on other views such as Parking and Building Footprints on the Property View).

5/05/04: Transparent Planning Jurisdictions in Orthophoto Views

On the Orthophoto Views (View choices are below the map), the Planning Jurisdictions are now transparent. To use this functionality - it's helpful to turn off all layers except the Planning Jurisdictions and the Orthophotos. Zoom in until the Orthophotos turn on; you should be able to see them through the Jurisdiction color.

4/16/04: Wake County Commissioner Names added as labels to Electoral View

To see the Commissioner Districts choose the ELECTORAL VIEW (View choices are located below the map). Turn on Wake County Commissioners and zoom in until the districts appear.

4/12/04: New Layer added to the Property View: "Parcels - Neighboring PINs"

We have had several requests from users who would like to see the PIN for neighboring parcels. To use this feature make sure you turn off the layer called Parcels.

3/29/04: Link to Photos

To get to the photo for a property:  Search for the parcel by Owner, by Address or by PIN. Once the parcel is returned you will see the parcel information on the right side of your screen. Click on the words Open Photo.   The photo will open in a new window.

1/23/04: New Layer added to the Property View:  "Parcels - No PIN label"

We have had a number of requests from users who want to see the parcels on the map without the PIN number. To use this feature make sure you turn off the layer called Parcels.
